We had enjoyed wonderful alumni gatherings in Singapore, Shanghai, and Beijing last year, and now it’s time to get together in Taiwan! You are invited to join the Spring Dinner at the Regent Taipei on Saturday, 24 February, hosted by Business School Dean Prof. Kalok Chan, and co-organized by the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office and the CUHK Business School Taiwan Alumni Association. A Celebratory Forum and Carnival in Southern China
On 16 December 2017, alumni and students of the MBA Program in Finance (FMBA) gathered for the THU-CUHK FMBA Industry Forum and New Year Carnival. Held at Le Méridien Xiaojing Bay in Huizhou, the event was attended by almost 400 people. Business leaders discussed the theme “New Thoughts, New Finance: A Dialogue in New Cycles”, sharing insights on the current investment outlook. Afterwards, Alumni Awards were presented and everyone enjoyed an elegant dinner with exciting entertainment showcasing the talent of alumni and students. Click here to read more and see the photos.

‘Sister Qianwan’ Makes a Comeback After Earning an EMBA
Vivian Li (EMBA (Chinese) 2017), or ‘Sister Qianwan’ (Sister 10 million), is famous for leading her company, GXG, a mainland menswear brand, to generate more than RMB 10 million on Alibaba’s TMall Singles Day. After her achievement, she was recruited by TMall, but later decided to take time off and get an EMBA at CUHK, where she learned the value of starting again and never giving up. Last year, she formed a successful partnership between GXG and Australian sportswear brand 2XU, and is set to reach new heights in her career. Read her inspiring story and watch the video here.
A Family Day Out for the Community
Alumni and their families had a fun day participating in the RBC Race for the Kids Hong Kong on Sunday, 14 January. The race was held at Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village, organized by The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong, and proudly supported by CUHK Business School for the fourth year in a row. This year, a record-breaking 3,500 people participated, raising about HK$1 million. Living by the motto, “Dream BIG Play BIG”, the BGCA will use the proceeds to support young people from underprivileged families and those with special needs. Financial Times Announces 2018 MBA Rankings
On 29 January, the Financial Times announced CUHK Business School’s MBA program ranked 43rd in its Global MBA Ranking 2018. Our MBA program maintained its place amongst the top eight in Asia and its three-year average ranking is 35. The ranking tracked the career progression of the 2014 graduating class and the MBA program was also named as one of the top four in Asia for international mobility. CUHK Business School continues to strive for excellence in providing high quality education, and recently opened a new Career Management Center on the 4th floor of the Cheng Yu Tung Building to enhance the career support we offer students. Heart-warming Visits to the Elderly
The cold winter weather has been particularly hard on elderly people living on their own. Bringing love and warmth, our alumni joined other volunteers to visit the elderly in Sham Shui Po on 9 December 2017 and 13 January 2018. The visits were organized by the Ho Kin District Community Centre for Senior Citizens and supported by CUHK Business School. The volunteers presented gifts to the senior citizens with festive blessings and the visits meant a lot to all involved. Click here to read more.
A Trip to the ‘South Pole’
On Sunday, 13 January, alumni and friends went on a field trip to Po Toi Island, also known as ‘the South Pole of Hong Kong’. The hike was co-organized by the BBA Alumni Association and the Geography and Resource Management Alumni Association of CUHK. Surrounded by spectacular views, the group got to know each other better while professors and alumni from the Department of Geography and Resource Management explained the history of the granite formations on the island. A New Management Degree for the Digital Age
We are now accepting applications for the new Master in Management (MiM) degree, set to begin this August. The program is designed as a fast-track to management for recent graduates with limited experience and provides a sound understanding of business challenges, as well as practical managerial experience and leadership training. With innovative courses covering cutting-edge topics like big data, fintech, digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility, students will be prepared to succeed in today’s fast-paced digital economy.
