Offering Insight and Advice for Investing in China
The second talk in the China Business Knowledge@CUHK Luncheon Series took place at CUHK Business School Town Centre on 26 October. With the theme “Understanding China’s Investment Environment,” the event welcomed Prof. Gu Zhaoyang, who discussed fund managers, analysts and problems with professional stock recommendations in mainland China. Afterwards, alumnus Mr. Patrick Cheung shared his investing experience in China, offering tips and suggestions. A Young Alumnus Pursues a Passion for Farming
Determined and driven, Victor Lo (BBA 2016) moved from Sichuan to Hong Kong in 2007. Though he did not understand Cantonese or English, he committed himself to learning both languages while excelling academically and working part-time. Eventually, he made his way to CUHK and earned a BBA last year. He has discovered a passion for organic farming and entrepreneurship and developed an aquaponics business in Guangdong, which is now attracting investors and growing in size, thanks to his hard work. Support a Good Cause in the New Year
Put your running shoes on and join us on Sunday, 14 January 2018 for the RBC Race for the Kids Hong Kong. Supported by CUHK Business School, this exciting annual event raises money for The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong and includes 10k and 3k runs, as well as a family-friendly one you can enjoy at your own pace. Connecting Mentors with Business School Undergrads

The Undergraduate Mentorship Program Kick-off Ceremony was held on 14 October at the Cheng Yu Tung Building. Almost 250 alumni and students attended the ceremony and the tea reception which followed. The program brings undergraduate students together with alumni and skilled professionals working in different industries, providing them with guidance from talented mentors. First-year students are now welcome to participate in the program in the hopes that they will begin planning their careers early. Please click here for details.
Happy Hour Brings Shenzhen Alumni Together
The Ritz-Carlton in Shenzhen welcomed over 40 alumni for a Happy Hour on 9 September. The event was organised by the MBA Office and brought together graduates and students working in an array of industries in Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta. Ms. Stephanie Villemagne, Associate Dean (Graduate Programs) and Director of MBA Programs, and Ms. Florence Lai, Director of the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office, hosted the event. Learning the Ins and Outs of Hong Kong’s Stock Market
An informative seminar, Behavioral Changes in Hong Kong Stock Market: Review and Outlook, took place on 20 September at the CUHK Business School Town Centre. The latest instalment in the Global Economic Affairs Talk Series, it was led by two investment experts, Mr. Walter Chang and Mr. Kim Pao. Together, they reviewed the market’s performance in 2017 before adding that they expect 2018 to be another strong year. Read more about this insightful seminar here.
Revamped MBA Mentorship Program Kicks Off
On 12 October, the MBA Mentorship Program kick-off dinner took place at the W Hotel. The program was updated to include part-time MBA students in their second year of studies, along with full-time students. The mentors enjoyed a session led by Prof. Tom Bain, who helped them improve their mentoring skills before dining with the young talents eager to benefit from their guidance. Accounting Alumni Win Prestigious Awards

Eight graduates from the Professional Accountancy (PACC) program at CUHK Business School were honoured at the Qualification Programme (QP) Award Ceremony on 23 September, which was organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. The winners earned three top awards during the December 2016 session and five more in the June 2017 session. In the past five years, PACC graduates scooped more than 50 percent of all QP awards received by graduates from all undergraduate accounting programs. Our sincere congratulations to the PACC winners!
