Singapore Alumni Meet for Cocktails

In late July, nearly 60 alumni and faculty members attended the first gathering organised by the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office in Singapore, making it a great success. The event took place at the Joji Bar in the Carlton Hotel and was hosted by Prof. Angela Ng, Associate Dean of Global Engagement and External Relations, who led a delegation of representatives from Hong Kong, including Ms. Florence Lai, Alumni and Corporate Affairs Director, and Mr. Roger Shew, Marketing and Communications Director. Achieving Success through Perseverance
Evonne Chiu (EMBA 2010) is the General Manager of the Corporate Division of Banco Nacional Ultramarino, S.A. in Macau. Over the years, she has persevered through ups and downs to establish a thriving finance career. During her EMBA studies, she left work early every Friday and took the ferry to Hong Kong for class. She also experienced great changes in Macau and the growth of its gaming industry, which presented many professional challenges. Wishing a Beloved Professor Well
Nearly 100 alumni, students and friends came together at a party on 7 July and wished Prof. Dennis Fan a happy retirement. As the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Studies) and former Director of the Quantitative Finance Program at CUHK Business School, Prof. Fan played an important role in the lives of many people over the years. During the evening, students and alumni took pictures with Prof. Fan while holding his new book, Dear Students: Monday Messages to Build the Character of University Students. Making a Difference with Run to Your Home
On 17 June, nearly 30 alumni volunteers teamed with Run to Your Home to visit elderly people living in Wong Tai Sin, the newest location served by this social enterprise. The event was organised through a partnership with H.K.S.K.H Chuk Yuen Canon Martin District Elderly Community Centre and provided elders with a much-needed chance to socialise and enjoy the company of others. Afterwards, the volunteers discussed their experiences and offered suggestions for improving future visits. Click here to read more details.
Graduate Business Conference Attracts Global Leaders
The 34th Graduate Business Conference took place from 24 to 28 May and was co-organised by CUHK MBA Programs and the Graduate Business Forum. More than 50 alumni and student government leaders from across the world attended the gathering, which is the only event of its kind. This year’s conference focused on the theme “Business 4 Good: The Ultimate Challenge!” and offered an opportunity to learn, grow and determine best practices and innovative ideas in graduate business student government.
