Ringing in the Year of the Rooster at the Spring Cocktail

Held on 16 February at the Island Shangri-La Hong Kong, the Spring Cocktail organised by the CUHK Business School hosted nearly 200 faculty, staff, alumni and community friends. Millennials in the Workplace
On 7 March, a professional workshop titled ‘Creating a Culture that Engages and Retains Millennials’ was hosted at CUHK Business School Town Centre. Mr. Mark Cosgrove, Director of Training at Dale Carnegie Hong Kong, discussed ways to understand, engage, nurture and retain Millennials. Encouraged by the enthusiastic response to the workshop, the Alumni and Corporate Affairs Office looks forward to organising more useful gatherings to assist alumni’s personal and professional advancement in the future. Business and Social Leaders Learn About
Tri-Sector Leadership

On 13 March, over 60 senior executives and social entrepreneurs attended the first of three ‘Tri-Sector Leadership In Action’ workshops created by the Social Angel Program, a social enterprise team from the EMBA Alumni Association. The workshop was led by Mr. Howard Ling, Senior Consultant of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service – HSBC Social Enterprise Business Centre. He discussed the relationship between tri-sector leadership and social entrepreneurship, and spoke about the skills required to bridge gaps while balancing the interests of multiple stakeholders. MBA x FMBA Alumni Cocktail
The inaugural cocktail mixer hosted by the MBA Program and MBA Program in Finance was held on 1 March at the Ritz-Carlton, Shenzhen, attended by over 60 alumni and students. Attendees enjoyed the opportunity to network in the relaxed ambience of the outdoor terrace. They also heard from guest speakers Prof. Ma Xufei, Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, and FMBA alumnus and successful entrepreneur Mr. Leo Li, Managing Partner of Divine Capital Management and Director of Lenovo Accelerator. On 6 March, the BBA Alumni Association hosted the ‘Round the Globe Series’ at CUHK Business School Town Centre, featuring BBA alumna Ms. Norris Lam, Managing Partner of Forbes Financial Centers Development and a specialist on overseas real estate and private equity opportunities. More than 60 mentors and mentees of the MBA Elite Mentorship Program (EMP) gathered for their annual Spring Dinner at the Serenade Chinese Restaurant on 24 February. Complementing the delicious cuisine was a welcome address from Prof. Kalok Chan, Business School Dean, as well as a fun-filled program featuring exciting games and a visit from the God of Fortune. On 18 February, CUHK Business School's Global Business Programs hosted the Global Business Forum 2017, themed ‘Transforming Global Challenges into Opportunities’. Attended by over 140 guests, the event gave alumni and students from Hong Kong, Denmark and the US the opportunity to meet and learn from the insights of prominent industry leaders and successful entrepreneurs. Dr. John Lai, Assistant Dean (Undergraduate Studies) and Director of Global Business Programs, challenged the students to overcome difficulties and find opportunities amidst uncertainty.
